The Singapore Shell Employees' Union Co-operative Ltd is Co-operative Society registered under the Co-operative Societies Act on 31 August 1990.

The Co-operative started its operations on 1 January 1991, when the Shell Staff Co-operative dissolved and passed all its assets, liabilities and business to the SSEU Co-operative Ltd.

The defunct Shell Staff Co-operative Ltd was formed on 1 January 1986 through the amalgamation of the Pulau Bukom Co-operative Thrift and Loan Society Ltd, Shell Group Malay Employees Co-operative Society Ltd and Shell Staff Co-operative Thrift and Loan Society Ltd.

The origins of the Shell Group Malay Employees Co-operative Credit Society can be traced to 10 January 1949. The Shell Staff Co-operative Thrift and Loan Society Ltd was formed on 31 March 1954. It has also absorbed the Shell Singapore Branch Staff Co-operative Thrift and Loan Society Ltd, established in 18 December 1953. The Pulau Bukom Co-operative Thrift and Loan Society were established on 24 September 1954.
